Online Portfolio Websites
Portfolio websites are the perfect choice for any company that needs to show potential clients past work or projects.
On the whole portfolio websites tend to be very impressive to look at as the design and layout must be an integral part of the portfolio - after all you don't want to show off your best work on a website with a low visual standard.
Is a portfolio different than a point of reference website?
More often than not a portfolio website is pretty much the same as an online point of reference website (a static website) with the added function of an advanced image gallery.
The image galleries you typically find on portfolio websites are very well thought out and styled.
Portfolio websites may also contain function that a static website can not cover. For instance the ability to buy a painting or the ability to request a quote for a project can be very useful for your visitors - it can also be a great way to build up your contact and prospects lists.
There are two main types of portfolio website and your choice of which will dramatically change how much you can expect to pay for such a site.
A static portfolio website.
A static portfolio website is one where all the images and portfolio projects are inserted into the website at build time. These images and project pages will then remain untouched unless the site owner decides to get things changed at which point you will very likely need to contact your designer.
Dynamic portfolio website.
A dynamic portfolio website is one where the site owner can upload new portfolio projects and images at will. Due to the advanced nature of creating an admin interface this type of portfolio website will cost dramatically more than a static portfolio website.
